Your Questions, Answered

  • It is never too late to start strength training … whether you are in your 40s or 50s or 60s or 70s or 80s. Studies show that adults who begin resistance training later in life experience meaningful gains in strength, balance and bone density, often within just 8-12 weeks. Kathy’s oldest client started at 84! It’s never too late.

  • The first session is a conversation and movement assessment. Kathy learns about your goals and health history. There is no pressure, no judgement, no expectation that you are fit or can perform all the movements. The first session is about building a foundation.

  • I know personal training can be costly, but my goal is to make this as affordable as possible. Your assessment and first month are complimentary. At the end of the first month, you will have a basic program. You can take that program with you, or if you want to continue with me, it’s only $10 per session with a monthly $50 cap. Since we train in my home without expensive equipment, my costs are low … and so are yours!

  • No, absolutely not. Personal training is designed to meet you where you are right now. Whether you are recovering from a sedentary period, managing a health condition or simply starting from scratch, a good trainer meets you there. Kathy specializes in building safe, progressive programs for people at all fitness levels.

  • Training takes place in Kathy’s private home studio in Jaffrey NH. Equipment includes dumbbells, resistance bands, kettlebells, suspension cables, BOSU and phsyio balls, medicine balls, body bars, a pull up bar and cardio equipment. Importantly, all of these tools you could eventually have in your own home - so the habits you build transfer beyond the studio.

  • A gym gives you equipment; a personal trainer gives you a program, accountability and expertise. Kathy designs each session specifically for your goals and physical needs, teaches proper form to prevent injury, tracks progress and adjusts the program as you improve. Many of Kathy’s clients have gone to gyms before or go to other gyms now, but have found the structure and personal attention made a real difference.
