A little about me

My name is Kathy MacKenzie and I am a certified personal trainer.  As the mother of three boys (all grown up now), I have been moving my whole life through skiing, biking, hiking, skating, paddle boarding, pickle ball, CrossFit, strength training, gardening, traveling, etc.   I have always enjoyed “exercise”, and many of these activities have come naturally to me.

In 2024, I was fortunate to retire relatively young from a 34 year corporate career.   And since that time, I have dedicated my time to helping others move more, move stronger, move better.     I studied for and passed my personal training certification with National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF).  I started training a few friends and neighbors who wanted to improve their strength, balance and general fitness, and have added clients mostly through referrals and word of mouth.    I specialize in strength and functional fitness for adults, with a particular focus on active aging, bone and joint health, balance and building sustainable exercise habits.

I love introducing strength training to new clients.  I smile seeing the pride with new milestones.  I look forward to hearing “that was hard, but I did it!”.    There is joy in looking back at progress.  And I have learned, it is NEVER too late to get started.  Moving is freedom and longevity at all ages and abilities.

We will train in the privacy of my home studio gym.  We start and make progress at the pace that’s right for you.   I coach using resistance bands, dumbbells, kettle bells, suspension cables, BOSU balls, medicine balls, cardio equipment, and a number of other tools of trade.   I do not have heavy weights or expensive gym equipment.  The tools I have, you can have in your own home.

If you’re looking for someone to show you the ropes, or introduce some new challenges to your current routine, then you have found the right place!
